About

Xochitl Menchaca is an Energy Engineer working in distributed power generation programs. Xochitl has a Master’s in Energy Engineering from UIC, during which time she worked with the Energy Resources Center. During her time at the ERC, she performed energy efficiency assessments under the Industrial Assessment Center, as well as qualification screenings and feasibility studies for CHP through the Department of Energy TAP program.

After graduating from UIC, Xochitl worked for a renewable energy developer sizing, modeling, and designing energy storage systems at an industrial and utility scale. She has experience in reviewing new BESS technologies, dispatch and operational modeling, and revenue analysis. Later as a consultant, Xochitl has developed techno-economic models that can be used for dispatch, revenue, and capacity relief forecasting energy storage.

After returning to the Energy Resources Center, Xochitl has supported CHP and other technology feasibility screenings for the OnSite Energy TAP Program and the Nicor Feasibility Study Program. She also is a core member of the State of Illinois Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) Biomethane Emissions Reduction, Capture, and Utilization in High Value End Uses, supporting on Technical Assistance for technology and engineering, and outreach and education.
